Mixed review of Mark Bauerlein's book, The Dumbest Generation Grows Up

Partway in, it seems like the reviewer is mostly gonna talk about his own experiences with Millenials, but he does return to discussing Bauerlein's book  There's an interesting take on how Bauerlein himself is limited in perspective.

Excellent essay though I'd like to comment on one section:

The folks I spent time with a few summers ago in rural West Virginia haven't read any literature either — yet they possessed the one priceless trait that seems to be lacking in so many Millennials: simple human decency.

The reason they possessed it was because they had led real lives — lives that were sometimes difficult. They had to grow up fast. There was no coddling; the tough-minded people who raised them had no patience with whining and excuses. They had to do without a great deal that other modern children take for granted. And, most importantly, their lives required them to spend most of their time in the real world interacting directly with other human beings and learning how to get along with them.

Some might argue that blacks in the "ghetto" have similar lives...difficult, grow up fast, no coddling, don't read a damn thing, especially not "literature" yet simple human decency is almost absent. They grow up venal, racist, entitled and violent. What's the difference? I don't know, just asking....

  2. Many lied to me, and I caught large numbers of them cheating on assignments. They were always looking for shortcuts

This cheating stuff occurs even at your military academies. They had one class of 88 some students that were tossed out because they cheated on a calculus exam they were caught because they all cheated in the same identical manner.

  3. Whites never resorted to crime,we EARNED money through hard work.We did not drain money from the system through section 8 or welfare. We did not sell drugs or break into stores.

I've made this one point before.Being around blacks has dumbed down Whites. You live around filthy, lazy blacks, your neighborhood becomes clinically depressed. The pride everyone takes in keeping up your house and yard is contagious. It also happens in the reverse.Nice White neighborhoods in Grand Rapids(or elsewhere)become ghettos by the same formula--one black at a time.Meanwhile, the Whites still living there throw in the towel, maybe become friendly with the blacks, pulled into drug addiction. It doesn't take long to destroy a section of a city--but blacks are experts at it.The one gift they have implemented wherever they go.

Which is why Scott Adams is 100% correct.Though it took him long enough to figure it out,I congratulate him on doing so.
