Cheating—An Old Arizona Democrat Tradition

Election cheating in Arizona didn't start in 2022—or even 2020—it was already happening back in 1880. In the book Tombstone, by Tom Clavin, the author writes about the race between Charlie Shibell, Democrat, and Bob Paul, Republican, for Pima County Sheriff. When it appeared that the Democrat cheated, Clavin writes:

"The ballot box for the San Simon precinct—presided over by Johnny Ringo—was opened and examined. Startlingly enough were the 103 votes for Shibell compared with a single vote for Paul. Decidedly disturbing was the fact that there were only ten eligible voters in the precinct."

Sound familiar? Looks like the Arizona tradition continues. By the way, viewers of the movie Tombstone will remember the dangerous thug Johnny Ringo—the same one mentioned above. And another poll official was Ike Clanton—again a crook who will be recognized by those interested in the events in Tombstone.

Unfortunately, Wyatt Earp, his faithful friend, Doc Holliday, and the other Earp brothers are no longer around to fight for justice in Arizona.
