jerry pdx This is the wording of the NY Post article:
"Alleged Texas serial killer Billy Chemirmir found guilty of murdering elderly woman"
"Alleged"? OK, I think it's saying it's alleged that he's an actual serial killer, but he is guilty of murdering one victim.
I wonder what progress they're making to get him convicted on the 18 other "alleged" victims. I also wonder how hard they are working to figure out how many he potentially may have killed. Sorry, I can't help but be suspicious after the way they stalled out Samuel Little's kill count at 90. Sure, maybe it's possible, but you then have to believe the most prolific serial killer ever in the US only managed 2 victims a year for over 40 years of activity.
Chemirmir still claims he's innocent. Check out this statement:
“I am not a killer,” he told the newspaper last month.
“I’m not at all what they’re saying I am. I am a very innocent person.”
An innocent person is an absolute, a very innocent one sounds like he's hedging a bit.
Chemirmir has been charged in the deaths of 17 more women in the Dallas and Collin counties, but investigators believe he may have had many more victims.
He was able to continue killing these women over an extended period of time due to the negligence and incompetence of police and the coroner: there was obvious evidence of homicide in many of those cases, yet it was dismissed or ignored -- some of them ought to be on trial too.
