I would have nothing against a true "green" energy alternative, if it actually existed that is. But there is none, all these "green" alternatives have an environmental impact comparable to whatever they replace. This idea that the lower classes (below the ultra rich) must use less and give up comforts is simply a way of forcing us to switch to the "green" energy alternatives. New technologies require massive infusions of capital which feeds money into the speculative wealth markets, thereby keeping the debt based economic system afloat and helping the speculative wealth high tech billionaires to get even richer. I think what's happening is illustrative as to just how powerful these people are, the oil industry has always been one of the most powerful lobbing interests in Washington, yet they are on their heels with many politicians, mostly Democrats, now siding with the speculative wealth interests in the drive to develop these new technologies and built the infrastructures for new energy distribution grids. That high tech billionaires control the internet is one of the key changes in the balance of power, it's a propaganda tool in the hands of speculative wealth investors who are fanatical about keeping the markets afloat and preserving their billions. Here is a link to some information about just how much speculative wealth is floating around in the world today: https://www.mckinsey.com/~/media/McKinsey/Featured%20Insights/Global%20Capital%20Markets/118%20trillion%20and%20counting/MGI_118_trillion_and_counting_Taking_stock_of_capital_markets_Full_Report.ashx
