(cbs) Russia has begun attacking the Ukraine, according to NATO officials. The late-night attack began moments after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had “decided to conduct a special military operation” to protect the eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region. cbs news correspondents reported hearing loud blasts in the capital city, Kiev, and in the eastern city of Kharkiv. In his speech on Russian state TV, Putin said his plans did not include an occupation of the Ukraine. The attack came just two days after Putin recognized the self-declared “People’s Republics” of Donetsk and Luhansk, in the eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region, as independent, sending shockwaves across the globe and a new round of sanctions from the West. Putin also ordered Russian forces into the breakaway region for what he called “peacekeeping functions.” Fake Secretary of State Antony Blinken called Russia’s move to recognize the two territories “a clear attack on the Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” and on Tuesday, Fake President Biden said Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine had begun. Ukrainians — both the country’s military and its civilians — have been bracing for an expansion of the eight-year war in Donbas for weeks. GRA: Stock futures fell precipitously. It appears to me, the S&P is headed to 3800 within a short time. Possible bounce there, imho. --GRA

  1. Commodities are soaring, wheat, corn, oil.More inflation on top of inflation. At some point they will crash due to a recession or worse. This is the scenario I believed would happen--not the war necessarily--but a stock market implosion.I believe it would have happened anyways with Fed tightening, now, there may be LESS interest rate hikes, but still collateral damage with stocks.

    I hope I'm wrong.
