The worker has admitted that the father, James Iannazzo, 48, said “no peanuts,” but thinks that because he didn’t add that his kid is allergic that that somehow lets her off the hook. One of the workers videoed the dad, and posted it online, calling him a “male Karen,” which is itself a racist epithet.
His son had to be hospitalized. Whoever fired him at Merrill—I didn’t know it still existed—ought to be shot. Ditto for the worker. But if anything, they will be applauded.
post operative Emily Crane and the editor who wrote the headline, clearly enjoyed themselves with this “thing.” Much of the time, the post—under the leadership of Rupert Murdoch’s liberal son, Lachlan, is now as pc as they come.

What “racist tirade”?

ReplyDeleteA Merrill Lynch financial adviser from Connecticut who was arrested for allegedly throwing a smoothie at a teenage employee — calling her a “f–king immigrant” — has been fired after footage of his racist rant went viral.
James Iannazzo, 48, was arrested and charged with a hate crime following the chaotic scene at Robeks in Fairfield just before 2:30 p.m. Saturday, the Fairfield Police Department said.
The wild encounter erupted after an irate Iannazzo returned to the store after earlier ordering a smoothie that supposedly contained peanuts, which caused his highly allergic son to have a reaction and require hospitalization, authorities said.
According to cops, Iannazzo ordered the drink without peanut butter — but didn’t mention to employees that his son had an allergy.
Video taken by one of the workers shows Iannazzo allegedly standing behind the counter repeatedly demanding to know who made the drink.
Iannazzo lashes out and calls the staffers “f–king stupid, f–king ignorant high school kids” when they couldn’t tell him who had made it, according to the footage.
He then allegedly called one of the workers a “f–king b—h” and hurled the drink at her, striking her shoulder.
Iannazzo continued his expletive-ridden outburst before allegedly calling the female employee he struck with the drink a “f–king immigrant.”
The video of the ordeal circulating on Twitter had been viewed more than 2.6 million times by early Monday.
A spokesman for Merrill Lynch told The Post that Iannazzo was fired from the wealth management firm on Sunday as a result of the incident.
“Our company does not tolerate behavior of this kind. We immediately investigated and have taken action. This individual is no longer employed at our firm,” a statement said.
Iannazzo had been with Merrill Lynch since 1995 and his LinkedIn profile currently lists him as a managing director.
GRA:What was he fired for--saying "f**king","bit*h" or "immigrant"?
I guarantee you, employees at brokerage houses use the first two words on a regular basis. As far as "immigrant" goes,it sounds like Iannazzo was pretty restrained, considering what happened to his son.Splashing the drink?Still not firable--under the circumstances.
One would think, only embezzlement or murder would warrant immediate dismissal--this,a minor slap on the wrist--if anything. You wonder if the soda jerk would have been fired if Iannozza's son had died(probably not).Yet,this 26 year employee DOES get the pink slip for his understandable reaction.
In stock market vernacular though,it's all BULL.

ReplyDeleteIt's tabloid trash dude. Obviously.
The website lives off page views; I'm sure their editorial policy, which includes many sensational, and sensationally misleading, headlines (not to mention the way they feature miscegenation and lowbrow celebrities like the Kartrashians) is designed to maximize page views.

ReplyDeletePeople shouldn't drink that shit anyway -- all these allegedly 'healthy' drinks like fruit juice (including OJ) and smoothies are loaded with sugars (just like soda) -- drinking them spikes insulin which leads to insulin resistance, which is now known to be strongly associated with obesity.
Insulin resistance in obesity: an overview of fundamental alterations
Im torn about this one; as much as I empathize with this dude because of what happened to his son, in an age where surveillance is everywhere and can be uploaded onto social media and can go viral and worldwide in seconds, he brought this shit storm on himself. Had he returned to the store and acted rationally and maybe even called the cops himself, he'd be on the payout end of a multi million dollar lawsuit against the store and a hefty settlement. Instead he's facing criminal charges, lost his high profile job and is socially ruined.
ReplyDeleteHis rash actions have also highlighted the skewed priorities in society today. Instead of the emphasis on the criminal negligence that almost killed his son, it's now all about his supposed racist abuse of someone he called a 'fucking immigrant ', even though there is no race of immigrants.
