“Back the Blue!” In NYC, the police Have Re-Defined the Crime of Attempted Murder as “Shoving”; They’re Accomplices in All of This

By N.S.

“Man, 32, Busted in Brooklyn Subway Shoving”

“David Rivera was arrested and charged with assault, menacing, criminal trespass and harassment in connection to the Saturday morning attack.” See how the cops turned one of the most violent felonies, for which a perp could potentially get 30 years inside, into a bunch of misdemeanors, none of which could get him more than one year. And things being what they are, if he is convicted, they will probably get him nothing (i.e., probation).

How will better funding the police change things for the better?

  1. The police "bosses" are to blame. Not the rank and file.

  2. No way. I've had terrible experiences, going back to 1987, with the rank and file. As a JD in Long Beach, NY, the institution with which I had the best experiences was the LBPD. But that was long ago, and seems like far away. Another country.
