Jason Elmore, Deputy Director of the VDEM, said the Hurricane Laura's track looks similar to that of other deadly hurricanes, including Hurricane Camille which hit the commonwealth in 1969. -- WRIC   Virginia Nursing Homes Could Get Virtual Visits Under New Bill: Nursing home residents in Virginia have been hit the hardest by COVID-19, causing operations to be locked down and residents to feel isolated, unable to visit with family and friends. A new bill in the Virginia House would help change that. HB 5041 would allow for residents in these facilities to receive visits through audio and visual technology. -- Dogwood   House Committee Votes to Expand Worker's Comp: The Virginia House Committee approved two bills to expand workers' compensation and paid quarantine leave. One bill, if passed, would require employers to provide paid leave to workers who work at least 20 hours a week. The other bill would extend paid time off to employees who need to get tested or self quarantine due to potential exposure to COVID-19. -- Virginia Mercury   Norfolk Police Officer Charged With Manslaughter for January Shooting: A Norfolk police officer has been charged with voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of 42-year-old Kelvin White.
