UT Austin Faces Lawsuit after 2 White Students Denied Admission

The group who brought the case have filed twice before, and claim UT has a "racially discriminatory" policy that's related to affirmative action. -

ATR: A buddy’s son was a straight A student at a local public high school. Middle, middle-class high school.

Texas A&M University did not accept him as a freshman.

He spent a semester at Blinn Junior College in College Station, where Texas A&M is located.

Blinn is kind of a purgatory for students who get the boot from A&M for whatever reason, or for those students who are attempting to get in to A&M.

His son attempted to transfer to A&M.

No luck.

Attended Baylor University instead.

Graduated Baylor with a 3.8 GPA and an accounting concentration. Would have had a 4.0 GPA, except he spent his last semester at Baylor studying for the CPA exam.

Passed all 4 parts of the CPA exam on his first attempt. Got his first job at a Big 4 accounting firm in downtown Dallas.

Yet A&M did not accept him.

N.S. I can recall when it was the "Big 8" in accounting. During the late 1980s, I dated a girl who was a business consultant at Deloitte Haskin Sells. She worked in their office in the WTC. Then they were Deloitte Touche. Now, they're simply, Deloitte. (They seem to have spun off the other names into foreign companies.) The Bush II DOJ killed off the nation's biggest accounting firm, Arthur Andersen, when they assumed it was guilty of crimes on behalf of Enron.
