Minneapolis Prosecutor: George Floyd Case was a Clean Killing; No Grounds for Prosecuting Cops

“Evidence to support no charges,” says prosecutor

(NYPOST) A Minnesota prosecutor on Thursday night said there is evidence that does not support criminal charges against the white cop who kneeled on George Floyd before the black man’s death.

[GRA: Medical evidence, perhaps?]

Along with the since-tempered revelation, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said he will not “rush” to charging the four officers involved in Floyd’s Monday arrest because “justice cannot be rushed.”

Freeman had [sic] the called the video of Floyd being detained by former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin “graphic, and horrific, and terrible.”

“But my job, in the end is to prove that he violated a criminal statute, and there is other evidence that does not support a criminal charge,” the prosecutor told reporters at a news conference.

[GRA: Now, will politics get injected into the process and his mind changed as a result? Politics, such as this tripe from the mayor:

9:36 P.M. — Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (D) tells MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow that the George Floyd protests are about “400 years of institutionalized racism.” He made similar comments earlier Thursday

GRA: If you add up the IQs of all the black protesters, would it add up to one normal white person? Slightly facetious, but the point is, after 400 years, if blacks had the overall intelligence to improve themselves and carve out careers that didn't include crime of all types, wouldn't it have occurred by now? Frey is the prime example of an ultra-liberal white guy who blames whites for blacks’ problems—in other words—“a meathead, dead from the neck up.”

I think this Frey is the same man who told President Don to stay away from Minneapolis. There is a video of Frey I saw and the man looked bad. Tired and shook-up. Said that we must all remain calm. The situation is now and has been for days way beyond calm. But that is what you got.

  2. PROSECUTOR CAVES IN
MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, one of four officers fired after George Floyd’s death, was arrested and charged with murder Friday.

Chauvin, the former officer seen in a bystander video Monday kneeling on Floyd’s neck, has been charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter, according to Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman. He had worked with the Minneapolis police for 19 years.

“We entrust our police officers to use certain amounts of force to do their job to protect us,” Freeman said. “They commit a criminal act if they use this force unreasonably.”

Conviction on a third-degree murder charge carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison.

Freeman called the speed in which the arrest was made was “extraordinary.”

“We have never charged a case in that kind of time frame, and we can only charge a case when we have sufficient admissible evidence to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt. As of right now, we have that,” Freeman said. “We have charged this case as quickly, as sufficient admissible evidence to charge it has been investigated and presented to us. “

Freeman said subsequent charges are possible, but he declined to elaborate on possible charges against the other three fired police officers.
