Weinstein Re-Routed to Bellevue

Truth or Consequences

“He was upbeat. Obviously he would prefer to be in his own house and not to be here.
“He was accepting some visitors, and I know he was looking forward to that.”

- Criminal Defense Attorney Arthur Aidala, Bellevue Hospital, February 25, 2020

Disgraced movie producer and convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein never made it to Rikers Island yesterday.

Apparently Weinstein feigned a mild heart attack after his conviction on rape and sex assault charges, and he was whisked away to Manhattan’s Bellevue Hospital where he is resting comfortably this afternoon, according to Aidala.

Lead criminal defense lawyer Donna Rotunno said Weinstein was being treated for heart palpitations and high blood pressure.

After a five-week trial in New York County Criminal Court, the 67-year old financial backer of liberal politicians was found guilty of the rape of aspiring actress Jessica Mann, 31, and the sexual assault of set assistant Mimi Haleyi, 28.

“We’re going to try to get him out on bond pending appeal or pending sentencing,” Rotunno said.

Yesterday’s decision came after weeks of testimony regarding Weinstein’s alleged rapes, assaults, harassment, and unwelcomed propositions.

Two witnesses testified about Weinstein’s disfigured genitalia.

“Most criminal defendants don't walk into a courtroom with the flashing of cameras and the clicking of keyboards,” Rotunno complained.

“In our system, you should be entitled to the minimum when you have no background - especially with the culture now when we look at prison reform and bail reform. The rules are not different for Harvey Weinstein,” she said.”

From the Julian Assange Files

Australian national Julian Assange tried to forewarn the State Department in Washington, DC that an encrypted database of more than 250,000 diplomatic cables might be released in 2011, his lawyers told a London extradition hearing today, CNN says.

Assange knew that Berlin's Der Freitag newspaper had discovered the password to unredacted files overseen by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Woolwich Crown Court heard.

Assange was not taken seriously, and told to call back in a few hours, his lawyers claimed.

Assange is fighting extradition to the US where he would be subject to prosecution and potentially significant penalties.

Former Texas Congressman Ron Paul writes that President Donald Trump’s stance toward the Wikileaks founder has now changed entirely:

Ron Paul Institute: “Trump’s Betrayal of Julian Assange.”

Today, Monday the 24th of February, Assange faces an extradition hearing in a UK courthouse. The Trump Administration – led by a man who praised Assange’s work – seeks a show trial of Assange worthy of the worst of the Soviet era.
