Martin Luther King Jr. as Conservative Hero

Excerpted by Nicholas Stix

“To take just one example, I gnash my teeth when conservatives argue that ‘affirmative action’ violates ‘the spirit of Dr. King’—‘color-blind justice,’ and all that. Nonsense. If King were alive today, he’d certainly support state-imposed racial preferences. He was a Marxist, always moving leftward. Liberals are right to claim him as their own; conservatives who appeal to his ‘spirit’ only make fools of themselves.” [“Media and Mythology,” by Joe Sobran, SOBRAN’s, November–December, 1998.]
“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today.”
That race-blind crap that King spouted at the Lincoln Memorial on August 28, 1963, was a pull quote his communist speech writers had provided for his leftwing allies in the press to use, in order to make him look to whites as if he believed the exact opposite of what he did in fact believe. He actually supported hard, racial quotas.

King was a race man, through and through.

If self-styled conservatives would lie about King’s beliefs, then you have to ask what it is they truly believe, and whether they can be trusted. The question you always have to ask American “conservatives” is, Just what do you seek to conserve?

A tip ‘o the hate to James Fulford.

  1. KKKing would be a pariah among some demographics today. I doubt KKKing would have approved of the gay agenda.
