The rise of the fake job applicant
I thought maybe this was about those job applicants who are just decoys for black supremacist organizations and fake scholars, who sent identical resumes, except that one has an all-American name, and another a ghetto name like "S--tavious." And then, when you don't call "S--tavious" in for an interview, they declare you to be "racist."
The rise of the fake job applicant |
| | Good morning, A couple months ago at the annual Inc. 5000 Conference & Gala in Phoenix, I was deep in conversation with a group of founders about hiring--it's something every founder struggles with. One man spoke up, and within minutes, one thing became very clear: Daniel Zubairi was dealing with one heck of a hiring challenge. Job seekers have been fudging their accomplishments forever. But Zubairi, the founder and CEO of Bethesda, Maryland-based cybersecurity firm SydanTech, said he had discovered something new and distinctly shadier. Totally false résumés featuring fictional employers. Covert coaching of candidates who had no experience, yet were somehow acing their interviews. Another founder at the table, from a different industry and region of the country, said he'd experienced some of the exact same issues. So, after the conference, I decided to investigate a little. It turns out, fake job applicants and other forms of misinformation are starting to clog the entire U.S. job market, and the problem has been largely unreported--until now. Unemployment is at an all-time low, and when desperate job candidates encounter fast-growing startups with equally desperate hiring needs, sketchy situations ensue. Zubairi, a cybersecurity expert who is anything but naive, says he even identified a SydanTech employee who successfully faked his interview and worked at the company for nine months before being caught and fired. If you think this trend is limited to a few rogue job applicants gone crazy, think again. This is a story about the unforeseen dangers of automation. A rise in scam opportunities for a surprising group of third-party middlemen. And on the other side, a whole bunch of vulnerable startups. Small businesses are at a higher risk for these kinds of scams than larger companies, one University of Chicago professor told me, simply because they have less money to fight against them. Of course, being at risk doesn't mean there's nothing you can do. Zubairi and his cohorts have started to figure out how to fight back, and that's where this story--which you can find both online and in Inc.'s Winter 2019/2020 issue--gets interesting. I hope you give it a read. Because if your company hasn't been hit by a modern 21st-century hiring scam yet, it likely will soon. And you'll need to be prepared. |

Chinese coming to the USA legally or illegally are masters at this sort of stuff. They even come prepared with a pamphlet telling how to fake stuff. Select a "white" name. "Hello, my name is Brenda". "I have a degree [maybe a trade school certificate]." Etc. Have the little prepared and rehearsed speech that gets them the job. Knows what questions will be asked and what are the answers.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Just over 24 hours after Braxton Williams, 6, and his sister, 5-year-old Bri’ya Williams vanished from their front yard in a mobile home park off West Beaver Street, Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams said searchers “have found nothing.”
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the children were reported missing by a family member about 1:30 p.m. Sunday after they were last seen about 11:30 a.m. while playing in the front yard of at the Paradise Village Mobile Home Park off Beaver just east of Chaffee Road. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued the Amber Alert about 5:15 p.m.
As the sun rose Monday, hundreds of search efforts that began Sunday afternoon ramped up. By noon, more than 100 patrol officers, 150 investigators, Urban Search and Rescue assets including Jacksonville Fire Rescue personnel. The JSO helicopter, dive team and K-9 officers and drones are also part of the search that includes a densely-wooded area nearby, abandoned mobile homes and retention ponds.
Williams said the Sheriff’s Office was utilizing state and regional partners and “every resource we can get” to find the children.
Despite all those resources and the parent’s cooperation with police, there is no indication of what happened to the children.
“Foul play could be a factor at this point. We just don’t know,” Williams said. “We’ve not no indication that anyone close to the children is involved.”

The fiancé of a Texas woman who went missing last week along with their newborn daughter is turning to the public for help as the search for the 33-year-old mother and 2-week-old infant continues.
Shane Carey, who was the one who reported his fiancée, Heidi Broussard, and their baby, Margot Carey, missing on Thursday evening, spoke to KTBC and said he was feeling helpless.
“That’s the worst feeling in the world,” Carey told KTBC. “Not knowing what to do is the hardest part. I don’t know where she’s at, I don’t know if she is suffering. I just want to do more. It feels like we could do more.”
Between tears, Carey described the mother of his baby girl as “beautiful” and “loving,” and called the circumstances surrounding her disappearance “weird.”
GRA:If the black parents didn't kill those 2 kids,I'll be shocked.
