Andira Abdelaziz, 37, had called police when her nephew and lover, Mohammed Abdelaziz, 25, pounded on her door and windows early on Aug. 9, 2016, but convinced officers to release him from handcuffs, according to testimony. Minutes after they left and he renewed his threats on her, she plunged a kitchen knife into his back when he was briefly distracted, she had told jurors.
