Haiti could have larger oil reserves than Venezuela

Haiti could have larger oil reserves than Venezuela. Amidst the utter devastation left in the wake of the earthquake that rocked Haiti on January 12th, new findings ...

According to French scientist Daniel Mathurin, “The Central Plateau, including the region of Thomond, the plain of the cul-de-sac and the bay of Port-au-Prince are filled with oil.” He added that “Haiti's oil reserves are larger than those of Venezuela. An Olympic pool compared to a glass of water, that is the comparison to show the importance of oil Haitian compared to those of Venezuela.”

  1. The “scientist” is (1) dead in 2013 and (2) a negro Haitian. Incidentally, he died in hospital in Dominican Republic, not Haiti.

Evidence that the US Administration may well have more in mind for Haiti than the improvement of the lot of the devastated Haitian people can be found in nearby waters off Cuba, directly across from Port-au-Prince. In October 2008 a consortium of oil companies led by Spain’s Repsol, together with Cuba's state oil company, Cubapetroleo, announced discovery of one of the world’s largest oilfields in the deep water off Cuba. It is what oil geologists call a ‘Super-giant’ field. Estimates are that the Cuban field contains as much as 20 billion barrels of oil, making it the twelfth Super-giant oilfield discovered since 1996. The discovery also likely makes Cuba a new high-priority target for Pentagon destabilization and other nasty operations.

I attended the University of Texas at Austin for a few years, but didn't graduate. While there I took a few geology classes. The Jackson School of Geosciences at UT Austin is considered one of the world's best earth science programs. http://www.jsg.utexas.edu/about/ - ATR

  3. And NEVER had I ever heard of the great wealth or potential wealth of Haiti. And WHY have not the global oil corporations gotten involved then? Too expensive to get the stuff out. If indeed it is even there. And even if gotten out, you can bet the locals in Haiti would see pennies on the dollar as their share. The rest looted.
