The statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee that has towered over New Orleans’ busy Lee Circle for 133 years was taken down amid cheers Friday.

  1. If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. John 15:18 I read a lot of commentary about this, most of it is pure hate of the South. I feel no compassion for these because they hate God as much as us.

  2. When this city was last visited in '95 for Jazz Fest, the 'welcoming vibe' that New Orleans was always known for (and still pushed by their tourist board in their current ads) was still intact: you didn't hear a damn thing about these monuments as 'glorifying White Supremacy'.
NO is not a 'vertical' place like NYC - it is spread out in a wierd pattern - and these statues were beloved landmarks more than anything else.
Especially 'Lee Circle', where the towering pillar with Gen Lee on top was an orientation marker, a means of locating where you were in the city, all beautifully landscaped: everything was ripped out, not just the statue.
No real working New Orleans native - white or black - can have a good feeling about any of this, because no one ever looked at these statues before in these racist Marxist terms - they were just historical landmarks, a way of getting 'your bearings'.
No one normal there ever looked at the Beauregard or Lee or Davis statues and said: 'oh look, another white guy that owned slaves...' They are forced to now.
The point of all this 150 years after the fact - where anyone with any direct connection to the Confederacy and slavery long since turned to dust - is not to rewrite history, it is to punish anyone white still living in this pathetic place, like a psychopath punishes a puppy being housebroken by pushing its nose in shit for having an accident.
Dumping these pieces of bronze and iron where they will never be seen again was just the beginning, and the ending is not going to be pretty.
Jackson square - with the world famous equestrian statue - is the heart of New Orleans (http://www.experienceneworleans.com/jackson-square.html)
Any bets on how many years go by before it's also defaced with racist profanity and then torn down? To be replaced with what, a likeness of Harriet Tubman?

  3. And meanwhile, there are streets in every large U.S. city named after a philandering, crypto-commie plagiarist named King.
