NY State Court Strikes Down Freedom of Religion Clause in the U.S. Constitution

By Nicholas Stix

Gay taqqiya. Taqqiya is the Islamic notion, whereby Moslems may lie at all times to non-Moslems, as a tactic, on the way to imposing Mohammedan tyranny. Homosexuals have their own version. When they called for the repeal of laws forbidding sodomy, they insisted that they had no interest in gay marriage. And the moment the Supreme Court struck down the sodomy laws, in Lawrence v. Texas, in 2003, they demanded gay marriage.

Likewise, when militant homosexuals demanded “hate crime laws” on their behalf, they insisted that such laws would never be used to punish Christians for exercising their religious freedom, but the moment they got what they demanded, they started suing Christians for acting …Christian.

NY court: Business that refused lesbian wedding violated law

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — The owners of an upstate wedding venue who refused to host a lesbian wedding and were fined $13,000 for violating the state's anti-discrimination law had their appeal rejected by a state court on Thursday.

Robert and Cynthia Gifford cited their conservative Christian beliefs in refusing to host the 2013 wedding of Melisa and Jennie McCarthy at Liberty Ridge Farm, north of Albany. They appealed a ruling from the state's Division of Human Rights, asserting their rights to free speech and religious exercise.

The Appellate Division of state Supreme Court, in a 5-0 ruling, said the Giffords are free to express their religious beliefs but rejected their argument that their rights were being violated.

[What a dishonest ruling. The Court knows that religious freedom either means being able to act on one’s beliefs, or it means nothing.]

"The Giffords are free to adhere to and profess their religious beliefs that same-sex couples should not marry, but they must permit same-sex couples to marry on the premises if they choose to allow opposite-sex couples to do so," Judge Karen Peters' decision said.

The Giffords were represented by an attorney for the Alliance Defending Freedom, a conservative Christian organization that says "a thriving culture upholds the value of life, marriage, and religious freedom."

The attorney, Caleb Dalton, said on the organization's website that the court "should have rejected this unwarranted and unconstitutional government intrusion." He said an appeal would be considered.

The New York Civil Liberties Union, which represented the McCarthys, said the ruling affirms that all state residents deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. The McCarthys married at another upstate farm.

Gay marriage became legal in New York on July 24, 2011. It became legal nationwide on June 26, 2015, following a U.S. Supreme Court ruling.

  1. Just like with abortion. We were told it would be used only in the most severe of circumstances and very limited in nature, few abortions ever would occur.

But no! For many decades now more or less abortion on demand by the millions each year.

And it matters not whether you are pro or anti abortion, it is more like how stealth is used to create a situation we were told quite clearly would never occur.

  2. The courts are clearly going in the direction of "coming down hard on (white)people who are conservative".The law and order judges of the Nixon era have retired...replaced by judges with agendas of downplaying REAL crime and going after PHILOSOPHICAL crime.Leniency for repeated felonies committed by minorities is the new policy. It is racist to put a low income black in prison for strongarmed robberies, drug dealing and prostitution. What do you expect the black to do?However if a white conservative doesn t agree with a lifestyle choice of a gay couple--they get the full force of the liberal court thrown at them.Of course the liberal judge will never live in the same neighborhood as the low income black---that would cause a change in his/her thinking--and we can t have that.

  3. Gay couples are allowed to marry. Muslim and Atheist and Jewish couples are allowed to marry. If you are a business owner you have every right to determine which products and services you offer to paying customers, but you do not have the right to deny products and services to SOME customers just because you have theological disagreements with them. If you have a problem with modern civil rights laws, you should contact your elected representatives and get them to repeal those laws. Good luck with that.

  4. The more the elected representatives and judges let the "general public"get away with bad behavior--no work for welfare, less jail time for crimes of all kinds,no moral restrictions of any kind--the more votes they get--and that s the bottom line.Let the country go to hell, but keep your corrupt job another 4 years. Now if Trump gets in....

  5. To Chuck:How did this country survive so well before all the liberal decisions to allow black voting, gay marriage etc etc.Why was our country seen as great then, but not now?We re seen as a failing power--which is true-a failed white power.Russia and China will be here long after our demise BECAUSE of the purity of their populations.Europe is in the same position as the US...diluting what they were all about with different ethic groups who don t think the way they did when they were great. Not much can be done--Pandoras box and all.White liberals joining with minority agendas have done both Europe and the US in.
