Daniel Murphy Does It Again! Hits Record-Breaking Home Run, to Put the Mets Ahead of the Cubs 8-1, in the Seventh Eighth Inning of Game 4 of the National League Championship Series

By Nicholas Stix

Murphy came into the game tied with Carlos Beltran for the record of consecutive postseason games with a home run—five. As everyone expected him to hit another home run, or at least try for one, Murphy showed great plate discipline, hitting two inside-out ropes for singles early in the game, and then a double that hit the ivy in center field, but did not get stuck in it, for a stand-up double.

With the Mets leading the series 3-0, if they hold on, they’ll go to the World Series.
