For two millennia, great artists set the standard for beauty. Now those standards are gone. Modern Art is a competition between the ugly and the twisted; the most shocking wins. What happened? How did the beautiful come to be reviled and bad taste come to be celebrated? Renowned artist Robert Florczak explains the history and the mystery behind this change and how it can be stopped and even reversed.

One of the tenets of Communism is to dispirit the masses by surrounding them with ugliness- in art, fashion, music, architecture. Ugly cars, ugly clothes, ugly hair, ugly people... Even the language has become vile and ugly. They have succeeded beyond anyone's imagining.
ReplyDeleteSame thing too with the photographers that chronicled the Great Depression working for WPA [?].
ReplyDeleteAlways concentrated their photography on the decaying and the down and out bum with no teeth in his mouth.
With the emergence of mass consumerism and technology to enhance, "singers" could be on the most pretentious and untalented "artists" we have. Fabian is an early example of this. Then we had Yoko Ono as an example as a "musical artist" by association, she had previously had some notoriety as an "avant garde performance artist", an extremely subjective form of art if there ever was one, but somehow, simply due to having sex with a truly great songwriter, has put out albums and written songs with no discernable musical talent whatsoever.
ReplyDeleteThen we had the emergence of Madonna, a poor singer and dancer who wrote "lyrics" (bad poetry) and had them set to music by real songwriters. Her talents may have been modest but she knew how to promote, she had sex with black men and flaunted it publicly toward white men (pre saging the even less talented Kardashians), used lesbianism as another marketing tool, and another way of taunting men in general. The public however bought what she was selling, which just shows there is truth in the saying 'You can't underestimate the public's tastez", or maybe it should be it's intelligence. Jerry PDX
