Thanks to my partner-in-crime, David in TN, for this story.
See the videos at the original story, to hear of Wilson’s defense lawyer’s desperate attempts to point the jury’s attention away from the killer: “Was it race? Did the girl commit suicide? Was someone else to blame, and still on the loose?”
The defense lawyer later contended that he had to use “the shotgun approach,” because different arguments “resonate” with different people.
Reporter Julie Unruh said Wilson would be getting sentenced to "life without parole." In other words, life until parole.

On Monday, a jury found a Chicago man guilty of fatally stabbing a 14-year-old girl nearly three years ago after she walked in on him as he was burglarizing her family’s west suburban home.
John Wilson Jr., 41, was found guilty on all counts including murder, armed robbery and home invasion in the death of Kelli O’Laughlin.
Prosecutors say Wilson stabbed O’Laughlin with a kitchen knife when she walked in on him while he was robbing her family’s home in Indian Head Park in 2011.
Police say he then stole the girl’s cell phone and taunted her mother with text messages.
DNA evidence from a knit cap found in the home was later linked to Wilson.
This is a developing story. Check back for details.
