The beautiful, young Jennifer Connelly, playing a Jewish girl (Deborah) on the Lower East Side. I grew up and went to school with Jewish girls who looked just like that.
 

When this picture opened in 1984, it stooped to a new low in sadistic violence in big-budget pictures. And yet, this story about Jewish gangsters on the Lower East Side over the course of 50 years, was marinated in nostalgia.
 

James Woods and Robert De Niro, in Once Upon a Time in America 

Leone spent his last nickel financing this wildly ambitious love letter to America that should have been up for at least 11 Oscars: Picture, director, screenplay, cinematography, set direction, editing, costumes, supporting actor (James Woods), supporting actress (Tuesday Weld), score and, above all, Robert DeNiro as Best Actor. Instead, it went down as one of the biggest bombs in movie history.
