Veteran Journalist Ronan Farrow Wins Cronkite Award for Excellence in Exploration and Journalism—Ronan Who?

This is not a gag. An arrogant young man with no accomplishments in life, let alone journalism, has been given a prestigious-sounding journalism award. That means that the three-year-old Cronkite Award is a punch line. (His resumé boasts of some important-sounding positions, every one of which was handed to him on a silver platter, based on his being the son of celebrities Mia Farrow and Woody Allen and having the correct, leftwing politics.)

I really wanted to hate this child of entitlement, born Satchel Ronan O'Sullivan Farrow, but then I did some checking and determined that he does occasionally take his irony supplement. He calls Father’s Day “Brother-in-Law’s Day,” due to his father having married Farrow’s adoptive sister, Soon-Yi Previn. "Happy father's day – or as they call it in my family, happy brother-in-law's day." And when the long-circulating rumor, according to which he might be the son of Frank Sinatra, rather than Woody Allen, was confirmed to Vanity Fair by mom Mia Farrow, who admitted that she’d been sleeping with her ex, The Voice, at the same time she was sleeping with Allen (whom she never married), Ronan Farrow tweeted,
“Listen, we’re all *possibly* Frank Sinatra’s son.”

Actually, Farrow doesn’t look like Sinatra or Allen—he looks like his mom, who was a great beauty, which is why men as different as Sinatra, Allen, and her other ex-husband, Andre Previn, pursued her.

Ronan’s yet to test his “medal”

In a victory for long-time sacrifice, hard work and meritorious achievement, Ronan Farrow won journalism’s prestigious Cronkite Award for Excellence.

OK, it’s true his MSNBC show was only three days old, which means his career spans three hours, including commercials.

But he deserves a lifetime prize just for being the child of Mia Farrow and Woody Allen — or Frank Sinatra, if rumors are true. Either way, he is a poor, little rich kid.

N.S.: I have but one problem with Goodwin’s mockery of one Ronan Farrow. Earlier in the same column, he mocked Mayor Bill de Blasio’s outlook thusly:

Money — it’s the root of all evil. Behind every great fortune lies a great crime. Or at least an unfair advantage.

That’s the gist of the liberals’ creed and justification for their war on wealth. The other half of their view holds that the poor are innocent victims of life’s rigged game.

Their narrative of evil winners and noble losers clears the way for self-heroic redeemers. They will deliver social justice by meting out punishment and spreading the wealth around. Their virtue entitles them to power.

It sounds like a comic-book view of life, but it’s the reality of liberalism today.

N.S.: Perhaps some reader more insightful than me can explain how Goodwin’s mockery of De Blah-Blah-Blah and his mockery of Farrow can comfortably share space in the same column. Maybe Farrow can spare Goodwin one of his irony supplements.

  1. As soon as I saw a picture of Ronan, I knew without a doubt, that he was the son of old blue eyes himself, Frank Sinatra.

Frank and Mia were married for two years back in the mid sixties.

I read somewhere, that when Mia and Woodys step daughter fiasco hit the public airways, Frank called Mia and asked if she would like him to have both Woodys legs broken.

Woodys legs were not broken, so I assume she said no.

Moreover, if Ronan is in his mid twenties, his conception might have been right around or after the Mia/Woody and step daughter problem became public knowledge.

Mia was one of Maureen O'Sullivan's eight children, if I'm not mistaken.

Maureen might be better known to many guys as Jane, the wife of Johnny Weissmuller's Tarzan.

May both they and Frank RIP.

  2. It further occurs to me, that if Woody had not hurt Mia by having an affair or relationship with their step daughter, that she and Frank would never have had a child together.

I do not recall Frank and Mia having children during their marriage.

This seems to mean that Frank and Mia had a let's both hate Woody child for what Woody did.

Is Ronan therefore, in some strange way, the proverbial love child Frank and Mia could never otherwise have?

In any event, Ronan got Frank's blue eyes, Mia had to contribute there as only blue and blue make blue, and Franks check bones, but he got Mia's oval face.

Ronan, I think is better looking than either Frank or Mia, and the picture of Mia looking at her son Ronan, seems to suggest she is very proud of his pulchritudinous inheritance.

Lastly is Ronan a play on Conan the barbarian?

From the Sanctuary, I'm PDK: Thank you.
