Washington, D.C.: District Nightclub, an Island of Grittiness in a Sea of Vibrancy, is the Scene of Five Stabbings, as Diverse Citizen Felons Ring in the New Year

By A Former D.C. Area Reader

Adams Morgan is a “vibrant” ‘hood in D.C.

It's the kind of ‘hood where douche bags like this guy hang out.

Vibrant.

Not “gritty.”

That would be Southeast Washington.

“Vibrant” means wonderful Thai and Vietnamese restaurants, with perhaps a Brazilian or Cuban restaurant thrown in for good measure. Ditto the lone Turkish café.

“Gritty” means glowering male Negro porch dwellers with rap sheets a mile long.

Which would you prefer?

Sometimes grittiness oozes into a vibrant area, and then a a “melee” or “fracas” will erupt.

WASHINGTON D.C.Five people were stabbed in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington D.C. overnight and police are investigating the attacks, reports CBS DC.

Four of the stabbings occurred inside District Nightclub on the 2400 block of 18th Street, a popular bar area, and one happened right outside the bar, according to the station.

Investigators say it appears the assaults may have occurred as a result of a large fight [riot] that had erupted on the second floor of the establishment as people rang in the New Year.

All the victims, four men and one woman, remain hospitalized but none have life threatening injuries, reports the station. [In other words, they were saved by the revolution in trauma medicine. Not too long ago, the same attacks would have resulted in their being maimed or killed.]

Police do not yet have any information about possible suspects. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Metropolitan Police Department at 202-727-9099.
