we petition the obama administration to:
Formally address the
issue of black-on-white
interracial violent crime
during the upcoming
State of the Union
Address
Whereas, according to FBI statistics, more than two million white Americans are victimized by black perpetrators annually;
Whereas the majority of the victims of interracial violent crimes are white;
Whereas federal policies are a major factor in the current rates of black-on-white violence;
Whereas President Barack Obama is the head of the federal government, and;
Whereas he has addressed the issue of interracial violence when he perceived that a black person (Trayvon Martin) was the victim of said violence;
Therefore be it resolved that President Barack Obama shall make the termination of black-on-white interracial violent crime a national priority and shall formally address the issue during his upcoming 2014 State of the Union Address to be delivered to a joint session of Congress.
It's up to you to build support for petitions you care about and gather more signatures. A petition must get 150 signatures in order to be publicly searchable on WhiteHouse.gov.
Over time, we may need to adjust the petition signature thresholds, but we'll always let you know what the thresholds are.
Nick, you gotta redo your links. None of them link to the petition. They all link back to your blog.
ReplyDeleteNick - your links do not work. You have to edit this post, everything is linking back to your site, not to the petition, and the links are to pages on your blog that do not exist.
ReplyDeleteHello Nicholas,
ReplyDeleteI'm the creator of the petition, you've so kindly reviewed. Thank you for help, and for all of your past work on this issue. I've noticed that some folks are having trouble with your links, here's the correct link: https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/formally-address-issue-black-white-interracial-violent-crime-during-upcoming-state-union-address/bFKPcfkt
I though I'd give you an update: at about 8pm last night (Wednesday, Dec. 18) the petition received the 150 signatures necessary to become publicly viewable on the White House website. This is important because it allows anyone visiting the website to see it in the list of "Open Petitions" which has given it tremendous exposure.
In the 13 or so hours since "going live" it has received an additional 223 signatures. And that was overnight. We're hoping to get a lot more than that over the next 12 hours, during the day time, when the web is much busier.
I urge all of your readers to sign this petition. The exposure our movement will receive can only help to grow it and further our cause.
