Fight back: Dorothy Hendrix managed to shoot one of her suspected attackers before she was shot dead
A 76-year-old woman was killed in a shootout as a gang tried to rob her outside her South Carolina home in the early hours of Saturday.
Dorothy Hendrix was shot twice by the gang of two men and a woman, but she managed to shoot one of her assailants in the stomach before dying of her wounds.
Steven Hagood, Tereba Geer, and Bradacious Galloway have all been charged with murder.
“She fought. She was a fighter. She shot him,” the victim’s brother, Ronnie Lollis, told WYFF News Channel 4.
Ms Hendrix, who was known as Dot to her friends, had been returning to her Anderson County home at 1am when the gang allegedly tried to rob her.
The 76-year-old fired at the group and one of them fired back, hitting Ms Hendrix in the abdomen and the arm.
A neighbor called police after hearing the gunshots, but Ms Hendrix died outside her home while a relative held her hand.
Hagood, who she shot in the stomach, was taken to hospital where he is under guard. As well as being charged with murder, the 33-year-old has been served with a family bench warrant for unpaid child support of $80,000.

The two other suspects, Geer, 26, and Galloway, 23, also face murder charges.
Ms Hendrix, who volunteered at a bingo club, had applied for a carry and conceal weapon and learned to shoot after being robbed outside the same home in 2011.
The robbers behind the earlier attack were never caught, and police have not said whether they believe the two incidents are connected.
Anderson County Sheriff John Skipper said: “This was not a random act. The robbery was planned, and she was specifically targeted.”
“The trio had knowledge that Hendrix carried large sums of money home with her at night,” he added.
Mr Lollis said his sister had learned to fire a gun after the earlier attack, and had a carry and conceal permit, according to News 13.
“She had been robbed right here at her house, coming out of her house. That's what made her get her gun. I don't understand why she wanted to keep coming back,” he said.
STOP THE PRESSES! The Anderson County sheriff said "This was not a random act."

I would like to see all four found guilty and executed. As should be the case. Know it will not happen, but it should.
ReplyDeleteA white that defends themself succesfully against blacks often will be retaliated against. A 2nd "robbery" attempt is really a revenge hit. Message: Whites can't fight back against blacks because we will escalate until it becomes a lethal situation. Jerry
ReplyDeleteBut Jerry, they had nothing to "retaliate" against. She hadn't defended herself the first time, and they all got away, scot-free. And even if she had, she was the one with grounds for retaliation, not them!
ReplyDeleteI think you've accurately given the black way of rationalizing their racism. However, the objective situation is that when blacks target you, they are going to seek to kill you, whether you fight back or not, and will say they were "retaliating" for some offense you'd committed, in any event, as will their white allies.
If "retaliation" were an honest rationale, whites would have slaughtered every black in America, years ago. Blacks' talk of "retaliation" is nothing but a transparent cover story for a murderous black racism that is sui generis.
Yes, you're right. I actally meant to elaborate on this comment more but got interrupted so this abbreviated comment got put out there and it's a little out of context...
ReplyDeleteYes, Dorothy Hendrix was not necessarily a retaliation incident but I just wanted to point out that if you do defend yourself succesfully against a robbery or violent assault there is very much a mentality of counter violence in the blsck community. I met a gentleman once who told me he had a watch shop in New Orleans, he was a licensed gun owner and practiced shooting regularly, there was an attempted robbery in which he shot and killed the robber, subsequently two armed men (one turned out to be a cousin of the previous robber) came to his shop to "rob" him, he against succesfully defended himself, killing one of them, seriously wounding the other but taking one bullet himself. At this point he realized he was being targeted for revenge. He closed up his shop and moved to the Pacific Northwest. Probably a wise decision. My point was if you do take steps to defend yourself you could find yourself in an escalating revenge scenario with people who have much less to lose than you do and also believe that you don't have a right to defend yourself against their violence. I do feel people should still have the courage to defend their lives and property but it's something to keep in mind. Jerry
