On Tuesday, prosecution witness Valerie Rao, the Jacksonville medical examiner, asserted incredibly that Zimmerman’s wounds were “very insignificant,” “so minor,” and maintained that his head hit the pavement only once. (Lots of people have died from hitting their heads once on pavement.) However, Dr. Rao’s claims were completely at variance with the photographs of George Zimmerman’s wounds at the scene. And Dr. Rao’s years-long, documented history of unprofessionalism, makes her a huge liability for the prosecution. [More complaints on Medical Examiner Valerie Rao; Rao's term ended 2012; still running Jacksonville ME office, WKMG/Click Orlando Local 6, July 2 2013]
(Dr. Rao is an Indian immigrant. South Asians are an affirmative action group, and she has apparently been a huge beneficiary of racial spoils.)
However, forensic expert Larry Kobilinsky, who was interviewed on Tuesday night by HLN host Jane Velez-Mitchell, hardly a Zimmerman fan, noted that Rao’s experience is with examining corpses, and is unlikely to have examined Zimmerman. (Apparently, she examined neither Zimmerman nor Martin.) Besides which, under Florida law, one doesn’t have to suffer life-threatening injuries before defending oneself with deadly force; one merely has to believe that one is in danger of suffering such injuries.[“Zimmerman Update — How Much Injury is Required Before Self-Defense is Justified?”,posted by Andrew Branca, Legal Insurrection, June 30, 2013 ]
On cross, the defense elicited from Rao that she owes her job to Special Prosecutor Angela Corey, who was tasked with railroading George Zimmerman in the first place.
The defense team claimed that it sought in writing to depose Rao five times, but that the state never cooperated.
As a native of Madras, South India, Rao received her Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Stella Maris College in India, as well as a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from St. John’s Medical School at Bangalore University in India. In addition to fulfilling the requirements for the Federal Licensing Examination to become board certified in the U.S., Rao completed both a one-year internship at St. Martha’s Hospital in Bangalore, India and a five-year pathology residency program.
Indian immigrants have quite a bit of medical fraud history in the US. The Sacred Heart Hospital in Chicago that your site covered recently was closed due in part to Indian immigrants involved in medicare-medicade fraud. Bribes are common in their country. An Indian immigrrant was involved with the bribe of selling Obama's senate seat, which put I'll. Gov. Blago in jail & got Jesse Jackson Jr.in trouble. The Indian's wife was involved with huge medicaid medicare fraud, but she got off with only probation. I do not doubt that some form of bribe is involved in this case.
