DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Roderick Harris, the 27-year-old man who was convicted earlier this month of killing two brothers during a robbery, has been sentenced to death.
A jury spent two days deliberating the Dallas man’s fate. Harris was convicted of capital murder on May 10. In March 2009, Harris stormed into a home and demanded a family of six hand over their wallets and valuables.
Harris ushered them into a walk-in closet and shot two brothers to death who attempted to defend their loved ones. Harris made away with $2 and a ring.
In the final day before the jury began deliberating his punishment, prosecutors detailed Harris’s long criminal history, saying he’s been linked to a 2006 armed robbery and a murder on March 3, 2009.
A former Dallas Police officer testified about finding guns and bullets in Harris’s vehicle during a traffic stop.
