LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Police arrested seven people after breaking up a brawl involving a large crowd outside a club in South Los Angeles Saturday.

Four of those people were arrested after they reportedly attacked officers who were taking three women into custody, Los Angeles police Sgt. Donni Ellison said.

Dozens of people were reported fighting at around 12:30 a.m. at or near 75th Street and Western Avenue, Ellison said.

Three women were being detained on suspicion of battery when members of the crowd set upon officers and tried to free them, he said.

Police ended up arresting four more people — three men and a woman — on suspicion of attempted lynching and battery on police officers, Ellison said.
