IRWINDALE, Calif. (KTLA) -- Officials have identified the gunman who opened fire inside a Southern California Edison office building on Friday, killing himself and two others, as 48-year-old Andre Turner of Norco.

Officials received a call at 1:33 p.m. Friday of an armed man inside a building located at 4900 Rivergrade Road, just off the 605 Freeway, Irwindale Police Chief Dennis Smith said.

Witnesses said the man, armed with a semi-automatic handgun, calculated his fire.

"He told people to leave and he was very deliberate about who he shot," said one employee.

He did not like management.
"

The shooter was identified early Saturday morning as Andre Turner, 48, an employee at the Rivergrade facility, which houses employees who primarily work in Information Technology.

Turner died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Smith.

One victim died at the scene, and another on the way to the hospital. Both have been identified as Robert Lindsay, 53, of Chino, and Henry Serrano, 56, of Walnut.

Two others, a female Hispanic adult and a male adult are currently in critical condition, according to L.A. County Sheriff's officials.

According to CEO of Edison International Ted Craver, the remaining four victims were also employees.

"This is one of the most horrible days in our company
's history," said Craver. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the employees."

Many workers huddled under their desks or barricaded themselves in conference rooms during the assault.

The evacuated workers were held in a parking lot as investigators combed through the campus.

SCE says it is providing grief counselors for employees and families and is setting up funds for those impacted by the shooting.

Nearby Olive Middle School and Walnut Elementary were on lock down for a time, but students were released to their parents a short time later.

Not surprising, a lot of people are financially stresed out, bullied by the state, IRS, debt collection agencies, co workers etc, we will have many more of these scenario's.

Why was this person on the edge? Was he fired, reprimanded, did they cut off his services at home? Was he mad at Obama or Boehner, what?

So, how old is this gunman?

First he's 48, then suddenly 28?
Please, if you cannot get the story right, check at least that undisputable facts (such as age) are correct.

wow. I worked in Irwindale for several years a decade ago. Even though I'm not even sure where this is, I'm scared to consider I was pretty close.

How else can I make this about me instead of the story, the victims, their families and the gunman?

[Thanks to reader-researcher RC for this story.]

  2. The vics were Robert Lindsay, 53, Henry Serrano, 56, Angela Alvarez, 46, and Abhay Pimpale, 38. We know that Lindsay was white and Pimplae is South Asian. So, who was black? Serrano? Alvarez? Not bloody likely.

    Better luck, next time, Red.

  6. I was an employee and was laid off three years ago, I am so sorry to heard this thing but I believe that something wrong within the SCE management.especially on the level of manager2 to 3 level. those group of people has too old knowledge to lead the modern talents. the only reason they still on the position is because they are with the company long long time(more than 20 or 30 years). I am not surprise for this tragedy, Not at all.
