Racist Hate Crime at WalMart? Black 26-Year-Old Shopper Jacquetta Simmons,

Jacquetta Simmons, 26, was leaving WalMart on Christmas Eve when store greeter Grace Suozzi, 70, asked her for her store receipts. Suozzi was following store policy. Simmons, of Batavia, N.Y., then allegedly responded by slugging Suozzi, knocking the elderly woman unconscious, and leaving her with "multiple facial fractures." Simmons then fled the scene, chased by numerous customers and employees who had witnessed the attack, and who surrounded the suspect until the police could arrive and take her into custody.

The leftwing Huffington Post, the nation's most popular blog, emphasized that Simmons had paid for her merchandise, while refusing to mention the victim's injuries or her race, implying that Jacquetta Simmons had somehow been victimized. Many of the blog's readers falsely asserted that the store had no right to ask Simmons to show her receipt, and also repeated the myth whereby black shoppers are routinely the victims of "racial profiling."

Suozzi was treated at United Memorial Medical Center, and has since been discharged. According to reporter Howard Owens of The Batavian (see below), Simmons was "charged with two counts of assault in the second degree -- one for alleged attempt to cause serious injury and another for allegedly injuring a person 65 or older," and released on $40,000 bond. Her next court date is January 23. At press time, Simmons had not been charged with a hate crime.

Walmart greeter, age 70, seriously injured after allegedly being punched by 26-year-old woman

The Batavian

A 70-year-old greeter at Walmart suffered fractures on the left side of her face Christmas Eve after a 26-year-old woman allegedly punched her after being asked for her receipt for items in her shopping bag.

The young woman reportedly ran from the store and, according to witnesses and several customers, chased her and surrounded her car, preventing her from leaving until police arrived.

"One of the biggest things to note is that the community actually stood up and did not let this person get away with what she did," said one witness, who asked to remain anonymous. "Even on this busy shopping day, dozens of people stayed behind and made police reports."

Charged with two counts of assault in the second degree -- one for alleged attempt to cause serious injury and another for allegedly injuring a person 65 or older -- is Jacquetta Simmons of 106 Ellsworth Ave., Batavia.

Simmons was arraigned in Town of Batavia Court by Justice Michael Cleveland and committed to Genesee County Jail on $20,000 bail or $40,000 bond. She's scheduled to reappear in court Jan. 23.

The injured woman was taken to UMMC with a swollen face and multiple facial fractures.

Witnesses say the woman is a longtime employee of Walmart and loved by many.

The employee was reportedly working near the front doors of Walmart when Simmons tried to exit carrying a bag of merchandise. The victim asked Simmons for her receipt. It's unknown if there was any other conversation, but it was at this point that Simmons allegedly punched the victim, who was knocked to the floor.

Simmons then reportedly ran from the store, chased by other customers.

Batavia police arrived on scene first, but Walmart is outside of the city, so State Police took over the investigation once on scene.

In comments on The Batavian's post yesterday, Michelle Wheatley, a witness, said, that as she was leaving she saw the suspect "standing by the police car in handcuffs with a big smile on her face."

UPDATE: Simmons posted $40,000 bond and was released from jail pending her next court appearance.

People: we know holiday sales are great, but they're not worth spending the night in jail.

A New York woman was charged with two counts of second-degree assault after punching a 70-year old Walmart employee in the face.

Jacquetta Simmons, 26, assaulted Grace Suozzi on Saturday night after the Walmart greeter asked to see her receipts, according to authorities.

Simmons quickly fled the scene, but employees and customers chased her until she was surrounded. Not long after, police arrived and arrested her.

Police reported that when they checked Simmons' bags, she had receipts for all of the merchandise.

She punched a 70 year-old women in the face? That's completely out of line.
Everyone knows that you pepper spray the 70 year-olds.

I am a walmart shopper and I know that I should show my receip at the exit What is the problem with showing it if you paid for what you got? It is just that but blacks especially woman are very aggresive

Their policy of yelling out loud and throwing punches is not good. We are in the 21 Century Not in Wild Wild West

I agree I get followed around not only walmart, but other stores...cvs or walgreens. But I don't go around punching people, grow up!! I am so sick of hearing the race card being played all the time. It happens to everyone at some point and time. If you can't handle shopping at a store without punching someone's lights out then shop on-line. Get over it!! She looks like she had a bad attitude towards life.

Actually I used to work for Walmart and it's policy that only LP(loss prevention aka security) is ALLOWED to follow customers who are accused to theft. The employees in this case were STUPID , and I hope she sues them since they had NO reason to stop her, since she'd clearly paid for the merchandise. Sure, she should've shown them her recipts, but that's besides the point.

[The preceding comment sounds like it came from a racist black who routinely launches, and clearly supports frivolous lawsuits that seek to shake down whites, so it, of course, was not censored.

There are so many things wrong with it, that it's hard to know where to begin.

1.     While claiming to be a former Walmart employee, she willfully misrepresents the facts of what happened;

2.     She engages in reverse causality, in order to justify the unjustifiable; and

3.     She completely misses the point, which is the racist black woman's alleged battery on a woman old enough to be her grandmother. (I've lived and worked in black neighborhoods in which a 44-year age difference would be enough to make the victim the suspect's great-great-grandmother.)]

  1. This black woman with a hair- triger, racist, chip on her shoulder reminds me of stories of the worst days of the racist Jim Crow Laws in the South when blacks had to avert their eyes or step off the sidewalk to let a white racist pass.

Otherwise they would be seen as uppity and showing disrespect to the racist power structure.

But now that this situation has been reversed 180 degrees and the black thugs are commonly the racist aggressors, as in this story , the Corrupt Liberal Media is ignoring their glaring racist motives.

I have more respect for the Communist hacks that used to “report” for Soviet newspaper, Pravda, than I do for the PC, “liberal” eunuchs who dominate our Corrupt Liberal Media.

    “Liberalism” has killed journalism.

  2. POS, nothing more. Will she sue the employee for bruising her knuckles? This disgusts me. Send Al Sharpton down there (another POS)so he can buy his chitlins wrap.

  3. What the f does race have to do with it? Admittedly, punching an old lady because youre tired of being suspected of being a criminal isn't the smartest move, but I never show my reciepts if asked. I simply say, "I'm in a hurry, no thanks", followed by "have a nice day". If they try to get in my face, I will say "You have no right to touch me and if you do, I will call the police and have you charged with assault."
Once you make a purchase, there is absolutely NO LAW that requires you to show a receipt, EVEN IF YOU ARE STILL IN THE STORE! Once it's in the bag and paid for, it's YOUR PROPERTY! Don't be stupid and fight, but don't give up your rights.
Did the young lady call the older lady a racial slur? If so, charge her with a hate crime. If not, Assault. When two people of different races fight, it is often just because they don't like eachother or perceived offense, not everyone is a racist.

“What the f does race have to do with it? Admittedly, punching an old lady because youre tired of being suspected of being a criminal isn't the smartest move, but I never show my reciepts if asked.”

Let’s see. You lied about the attack being racially motivated, which you gave away with your second lie about being (unfairly) “suspected of being a criminal,” so you want me to believe that you refuse to show your receipts?

If you tried that on me when I worked security ay Toys ‘R ‘Us, you would not have gotten out of the store.

Every store has the right to have its personnel stop anyone leaving the store with merchandise, and ask to see a receipt for said merchandise.

The practice of stopping people on the way out, and demanding they show receipts was necessitated by racist black criminals who thought they had a racial birthright to steal from white-owned stores.

More lies: “If they try to get in my face, I will say ‘You have no right to touch me and if you do, I will call the police and have you charged with assault.’”

Final lie: “When two people of different races fight, it is often just because they don't like eachother or perceived offense, not everyone is a racist.”

This story wasn’t about a “fight,” it was about a huge, young black racist, brutally beating a polite, frail, old white lady. Lying racists like you always misrepresent such crimes as “fights.” That’s one of your signatures. The notion that a black can suckerpunch a white, due to a “perceived offense” (is there any other kind?), is yet another such signature.

You can lie about the law and reality, and throw caps tantrums as much as you like, but it won’t change anything.
