12 wounded in Friday afternoon, Saturday morning shootings

A 36-year-old woman in South Chicago was caught in gang crossfire and shot in the abdomen early Friday afternoon, police said.
She was driving on the 8700 block of South Commercial Avenue at about 1:20 p.m. when she was shot, police said.
Commercial Avenue acts as a dividing line between two gang [N.S.: Which gangs?!] territories, police said, and the victim had nothing to do with the shooting.

She was transported in stable condition to Advocate Trinity Hospital, police said.
Early Saturday morning, a 60-year-old man was shot in the 6000 block of South Union Avenue in Englewood, police said.
Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said the man was walking at about 12:45 a.m., heard shots, and realized he was hit. He was transported in good condition to Stroger Hospital, Alfaro said.
In the Lawndale neighborhoodon [sic] the city's West Side, two juveniles were shot at a party inside an apartment on the 3700 block of West Douglas Boulevard, police said.
A 16-year-old boy was shot in his arm and possibly his chest, police said, citing preliminary information. A 17-year-old girl was shot in her leg.
Both are in good condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.
Elsewhere across the city, a 20-year-old man was shot in his abdomen in the 3900 block of West Wabansia in Logan Square, police said. He was transported in serious condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said.
At about 7 p.m., a 20-year-old man was shot in his left arm on the 2800 block of N. Long Avenue in the Cragin neighborhood, Zala said. He drove himself to Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center, Zala said.
A 20-year-old man was shot in his right ankle near Belmont Avenue and Hoyne Avenue in the Lake View neighborhood at about 5:30 this afternoon, police said.
He was transported to an area hospital for treatment and further details weren’t available.
A 30-year-old man was shot as he tried to fend off robbers while helping someone move in the 10300 block of South Calhoun Avenue in the South Deering neighborhood, police said.
Two men approached the 30-year-old at about 4:30 p.m. and announce [sic] a robbery.
One of the attackers said said "I'm gonna need those earrings," police said, and a struggle ensued. A second man shot the victim in his left leg and he suffered a graze wound to his right ankle, police said.
He was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition, police said. It's unclear if the attackers got the earrings.
A 57-year-old man was shot in his knee and ankle at about 4:15 p.m. on the 7000 block of South Laflin Street in the Englewood neighborhood, police said. Police didn’t provide other details about the shooting.
At about 3:10 p.m., two men were walking in an alley on the 2200 block of South Marshall Boulevard in the Little Village neighborhood when an older white Toyota Camry drove by and someone in the front passenger seat opened fire, hitting both men, according to police.
An 18-year-old was shot in his arm and a 19-year-old in the torso. They were transported to Mount Sinai Hospital by a relative and are expected to survive, police said.
Police said the two men belong to an area gang. [Which one?!]
A 25-year-old man was shot in his left knee in the Park Manor neighborhood at about 2:15 p.m., police said, on the 300 block of East 69th Street.
The offender approached him on foot, police said. The victim was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital in stable condition, police said.

I have a rental house on 103rd Calhoun. It's refreshing to know that a law abidng businessman like myself cannot carry a gun to efend himself against street scum.
