N.S.: They should have been charged with attempted murder, 16 is old enough to be charged as an adult, and why no hate crime charges? Are we to believe that the vic was also black?

CHICAGO (CBS) – Seven teenagers have been charged in the mob beating and robbery of an 18-year-old man in Chinatown.

Five 17-year-old boys have been charged as adults with felony robbery, mob action and aggravated battery, police said. Bond was set between $100,000 and $200,000 for all five on Saturday.

Two 16-year-olds were also charged with one count each of felony robbery and mob action, according to police.

The victim had just dropped off his girlfriend nearby and was walking west on Cermak Road near the Cermak-Chinatown stop at about 10:50 p.m. Friday when a group of seven teenagers jumped him, viciously beating him and stealing his cell phone and other belongings, police said.

The attack was caught on a CTA security camera and security guards inside the station called police, who arrested the seven teens a short time later.

Police described the beating as vicious, saying that the attackers stomped on the victim’s head during the attack. He was listed in serious condition Sunday at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County and was expected to survive.

The 17-year-olds who were charged as adults were identified as Fimi Adedokun, of the 6100 block of North Damen Avenue; Stanton Demaret, of the 8100 block of Knox Avenue in Skokie; Devin Mossiah, of the 6600 block of North Ashland Avenue; Denzel Olagbegi, of the 1400 block of West Pratt Boulevard; and Duwon Polk, of the 1700 block of West Pratt Boulevard.

Bond was set at $200,000 for Olagbegi, $150,000 for Adedokun and Demaret and $100,000 for Mossiah and Polk.

The 16-year-olds were not being identified due to their age, but they have been turned over to juvenile authorities.

  1. Notice that a couple of the youths have African last names. I surmise they are first generation, with the parents from Africa. Didn't take long for them to throw in with the American black underclass.

  2. Chicago's weekly case of TNB on display for the nation.

When in college, my son used to bike through that area to get to work.

Chinatown is clean and safe while the area just to the east is rife with feral Negroes.

    Nothing new under the sun.
