The Knoxville Horror: David in Tennessee’s Vanessa Coleman Trial Journal
Part II: Nashville Jury Pool
[For over two weeks, my reader-researcher David in Tennessee has been sending me notes on the murder trial of Vanessa Coleman, the last murder defendant in the Knoxville Horror. Until now, I hadn’t realized how far behind I was. I apologize to David.
The Knoxville Horror was the racist atrocity committed by as many as seven blacks against white couple Channon Christian, 21, and her boyfriend, Christopher Newsom, 23, on January 6-7, 2007, in Knoxville, Tennessee. The couple’s tormentors, which included the since convicted half-brothers Lemaricus Davidson and Letalvis Cobbins, respectively, George Thomas, and as many as four others, carjacked, kidnapped, beat, gang-raped, tortured and murdered them. Nicholas,
Jury selection starts today for the trial of Vanessa Coleman. As in the Cobbins trial, Judge Baumgartner picked Nashville for the jury pool. Here (http://twitter.com/jamiescoop) are Jamie Satterfield's twitter reports. There are 109 in the pool. Of the first 18 questioned, 5 are black.
David
