Thomas Crooks = Travis Bickle? Was Crooks a “neutral” assassin? He may have hated all politicians equally, and President Trump was conveniently available

(N.S.: In Martin Scorcese and Paul Schrader’s 1976 thriller, Taxi Driver, protagonist Travis Bickle is a raging, isolated loner who seeks to become famous by assassinating a liberal, Bobby Kennedy-style political candidate, but who later switches to rescuing a damsel in distress, a very underaged sex slave-prostitute. Bickel kills the girl’s black pimp and his front man. Correction: Schrader wrote the role realistically, as a black pimp, but the studio, Columbia, forced Scorcese to change the role to an unrealistic, Puerto Rican pimp.

Scorcese was mocking America’s White working class through his and Schrader’s straw man Travis Bickel character, especially when their straw man public embraced Bickel as a hero, after he killed the two criminals who kept the young White girl as a slave. Scorcese fancied that he was dealing in “irony,” when he was really dealing in glibness. He couldn’t appreciate how an otherwise bad guy could become, under certain circumstances, a hero. Shakespeare could have explained it all to him, but I guess Scorcese knew better.)

“(zh) investigators are reportedly still uncertain about Crooks’ specific motivation. his internet search history indicates he’d not only examined Trump’s campaign schedule, but also the upcoming democratic national convention in chicago, which starts on aug 19. he also sought images of both Trump and president [sic] Biden. officials have told federal lawmakers that Crooks had a hatred of politicians in general, and didn’t have a distinct political profile or ideology of his own.
