The news reports give no explanation of the circumstances of this accident. Will someone please explain to me how someone riding a bicycle can be hit by an oncoming train?

Trains run on rails, and their approach is neither inaudible nor invisible. In the absence of further details, it sounds like a suicide to me.

Note: his last tweet is dated Apr 5 (or so it is displayed for me) -- yet on Wikipedia it says (link):

Boehlert died on April 4, 2022, after being struck by a NJ Transit train at a railroad crossing near Watchung Avenue station in Montclair, New Jersey while cycling.

  2. OT

So just as I said would happen, after some posturing and looking for 'gotchas', the Quotenfrau was confirmed because Democrats voted as a bloc while Republicans didn't:

Senate confirms Ketanji Brown Jackson as first black woman on Supreme Court

Three Republican senators — Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Mitt Romney of Utah — voted with all 50 Democrats to confirm President Biden’s nomination of the DC Circuit Court of Appeals judge.

Republicucks always find a way to show their fealty to the regime and the prevailing Zeitgeist, screwing their constituents while pretending they're acting on principle.

There is no more contemptible 'Republican' in America today than Mitt Romney.

  4. Suicidal individual I might suspect. Makes for a bloody mess too. And the train engineer probably traumatized for the rest of his life. Another train might have been approaching too going in the other direction.
