Breaking: Famed Criminal Defense Attorney F. Lee Bailey Dead at 87

N.S.: F. Lee Bailey became famous defending Sam Shepard, the Cleveland doctor accused of murdering his wife almost 60 years ago.

Bailey became so addicted to fame that circa 1970, he hosted a TV special arguing that Paul McCartney was dead, based on ... absolutely nothing. McCartney had dropped out of sight, following the release of The Beatles' Abbey Road album, which was probably a clever PR scheme.

During the 2000s, Bailey was permanently disbarred in Florida and Massachusetts for misappropriating clients' funds, and at one point was temporarily disbarred in New Jersey.

Bailey was notorious for having inflated self-esteem, even for a (White) shyster.

  1. Back in the day,Marvin Mitchelson and Bailey were quite the showman.Mitchelson was probably moreso--on "Donahue" blabbing about his latest case.I watched because he was a double for my uncle,lol.
