“W”: Teatro La Scala cancels performances. Off hand, I would not have suspected that Italy would be under such a coronavirus threat.
N.S.: It must mean that Red Chinese authorities were lax, and let the epidemic become a pandemic, before acting aggressively.
Whereas, 100 years ago, in the West, public health authorities had great powers in such cases, and used them at the first sign of an epidemic. Today, weakened by all sorts of “civil rights” lobbies, starting with militant homosexualists in the 1990s, they have the attitude, ‘Let’s wait until the thing explodes,’ by which time they’re worthless.
In the Red Chinese case, the authority and the will were both there, but apparently, something like the mentality in the fictional movie, Jaws, was at work, the belief that the truth would be bad for business.

Wait until it is too late. Sure. Like with AIDS. Don't want to tell the "boys" to stop. That might be a violation of privacy or human right or some such.
ReplyDeleteJaws was described by Fidel Castro as: "the perfect capitalist movie."
ReplyDeleteAnd Corona will be the perfect commie disaster of world-wide proportions?
