Newburgh during the Gilded Age was quite prosperous and a resort town for the wealthy of NYC.That was a long time ago and times have surely changed.Passed through Newburgh about thirty years ago and got out of town as fast as I could.Made a special trip just to see how the old place was holding up.Exited the interstate and headed east on the main road toward the Hudson river.Saw a lot dilapidated buildings and lots of negroes on the sidewalks and crossing the road.Turned around and got drove away as fast as I could. My survival instincts were serving me properly.
