Raw: Massive brawl breaks out at Resorts World Casino
NY Daily News

All bets were off after a chair-hurling brawl broke out Friday night at the grand opening of a Fat Tuesday New Orleans-style daiquiri bar inside the Resorts World Casino in Queens, officials said.

About two dozen people were involved in the 10 p.m. brawl at the Ozone Park casino next to Aqueduct Racetrack, cops said.

There were approximately 300 people waiting in long drink lines when the fighting erupted, cops said.

"It looks like 15-20 people were actually fighting amongst 300-400 patrons who were terrified and trying to get out of the way. It looked way worse than it was," a police source told the Daily News.

A huge brawl broke out Friday night at the grand opening of a Fat Tuesday New Orleans-style daiquiri bar inside the Resorts World Casino in Queens.

An eye-popping video of the fight shows patrons hurling chairs across the room at each other and swinging gold stanchions as if they were swords.

“A lot of gang members (were involved),” a police source said.

“why are people going nuts at the new location?” someone asked Fat Tuesday via Twitter.

Multiple police units were mobilized at the Queens casino after a huge fight broke out, authorities said.

“in New York?” the clueless company responded an hour and a half after the fight unfolded.

The dining area at the Vegas-style gambling hall was left in tatters from the ruckus, which went on for several minutes as melees and score-settling erupted in pockets throughout the food court.

Police estimated the damage at $2,000 but a casino spokesman described it as “minimal.”

The fight erupted inside near the daiquiri franchise shortly after it opened, but quickly spilled into an outside parking lot.

Four security guards suffered minor injuries and a cop hurt his hand trying to contain the melee, police said.

Two men were arrested for taking part in the brawl.

Andre Rivers, 23, of Brownsville, Brooklyn, was charged with two counts of disorderly conduct, cops said. Jovan Bovell, 23, of South Ozone Park Queens was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

A 30-year-old man was summonsed for disorderly conduct, police said.

A casino spokesman said, "The safety of our patrons is Resorts World's top priority, and there is absolutely no room for this kind of behavior at our facility.

Several security personnel were injured.

"We are reviewing all aspects of this unfortunate event and are fully committed to taking steps to ensure similar acts do not take place ever again."

The casino is immediately beefing up security, the spokesman added.

The racino opened in October, 2011 after a decade of controversial false starts and blowback from critics.

The fight isn't the first time that all hell has broken loose at the relatively new racino.

Less than six months after opening a brazen thief slipped a note to a teller and walked away with $63,000 in cash.

In November, a crook followed an 88-year-old gambler all the way to his house, 10 miles from the betting parlor, and robbed him of $1,000 in prize money.

And in February, a gambling granny was arrested for locking her 5-year-old granddaughter in her car while she hit the slots.

  1. Black brawls are so common, a double entente, they are becoming just boring, like black professional boxing was.

  2. Tourist attraction Navy Pier in Chicago instituted greater security after some black mob action there. Before that people, tourists, families could just go in and walk around. Now those under 18 have to be accompanied by an adult. White youths used to like going there with their friends; now that's been curtailed. They never caused any problems, mass brawls or anything of the sort yet are forced to pay the price for what blacks do. Same goes for a lot of suburban malls. Thanks to blacks everything gets turned into security zone.
