(CNN)The deceased suspect was identified as Claudio Valente, a 48-year-old former Brown University student and Portuguese national, Providence Police Chief Oscar L. Perez, Jr. said during a news conference on Thursday.

Huh! Not the one Pamela Geller mentioned. "Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed Valente entered US through the lottery immigrant visa program DV1 in 2017. He was later granted a green card. “This heinous individual should never have been allowed in our country,” she wrote."

Online people scoff at this person being the shooter and it is a tidy way to bring the whole thing to a close. True or not--and I lean toward true--"the powers that be" say "it's over."

I guess I'll be busy this weekend preparing my application for the nuclear fusion director job that just opened up at MIT. Though I should wait and consider other vacancies that might be available soon, such as President of Brown and Providence Chief of Police. With lots of you listed as references. Please do your best when they call. I'm counting on them thinking that "NSU" is a university, not this blog.
