No such law allows a victim to shoot a fleeing perp, and no such law as far as I know applies to shooting a perp who has broken into a victim's home. In nC, a victim can shoot perps who break into the house, but may not shoot perps in a detached garage (unless the victim is attacked while also inside the garage) but these have nothing to do with stand your ground.

Yes. Shooting fleeing perps -- probably in the back -- is not good form. However, I gather the fatal shot might have been fired through a door at a perp inside the garage. Such discharge not usually recommended, either.

Cops used to be allowed to shoot a fleeing suspect, as seen in countless old movies (another reason why the authorities don't want them shown). This was probably changed, like so many things we took for granted, shortly after we won WW2 for the Communists. By the 1960s, a cop couldn't even give a "suspect" a dirty look without being brought up on charges.

That's why crime is a-ok with the dems and their cohorts--the media. Crack down on an illegal or black and the violins start playing.
