"(zh) update (2115 et): with the polls just having closed in new york, decision desk hq has projected Zorhan Mandani to win the new york city mayoral election - currently leading Andrew Cuomo 51.5% to 39.7% with just 36% of the votes counted. Curtis Sliwa is in third with 8% of the vote that we assume would have otherwise gone to Cuomo.

SHAMDANI QUOTES EUGENE DEBS IN POST ELECTION SPEECH
DAILY CALLER NEWS FOUNDATION—Democrat New York City mayor-elect Zohran Shamdani quoted Socialist Party of America founder Eugene Debs during his victory speech on Tuesday.
Shamdani quoted the famous socialist who believed that capitalism exploited workers and created a system of “wage slavery,” where workers were dependent on capitalists for their livelihood. The self-professed democratic socialist won the mayoral race over former Democrat New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo with 50.4% of the vote.
“The sun may have set over our city this evening, but as Eugene Debs once said, ‘I can see the dawn of a better day for humanity,’” Shamdani said.

Debs, who unsuccessfully ran for president several times, blamed capitalism for poverty and crime and said that these issues could be eliminated with socialism. He maintained that capitalism was fundamentally anti-democratic because it created a class of economic masters whose power diminished political democracy.
As a result, Debs believed that the government should have seized the means of production and that wealth should be distributed according to need. He believed these solutions would have eliminated poverty, ended the struggle for existence, and led to a more democratic society.
Debs served a 10-year prison sentence for giving an anti-war speech in 1918, which prosecutors said violated the Espionage and Sedition Acts. In 1920, he famously decided to run for president from his jail cell as a member of the Socialist Party of America.
Shamdani said during a 2021 Young Democratic Socialists of America conference that the end goal of socialism is about “seizing the means of production.” He received endorsements from Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who are both self-professed democratic socialists.

SHAMDANI ANNOUNCES TRANSITION TEAM--ALL WOMEN(MOSTLY NON-WHITE)
New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani announced on Wednesday that his transition team would be all-female.
“Last night we made history, and today we begin the work of making a new administration,” Mamdani said in a video posted to X.
Following Mamdani’s substantial victory in the city’s mayoral election on Nov. 4, outgoing New York City Mayor Eric Adams will begin handing off power to the mayor-elect’s incoming administration.
Mamdani said that during the transition period, his team would work to “build a City Hall that delivers on the promises of our campaign: to make New York City affordable, and to make it accountable to the people it serves.”
Several of the women announced on Mamdani’s transition website as co-chairs of the transition team are Democratic Party insiders, particularly within New York City politics.
Mamdani said these figures were chosen on the basis of “excellence, integrity, and a hunger to solve old problems with new solutions.”
Members of the transition team include former Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina Khan, former first deputy mayor Maria Torres-Springer, United Way of New York City head(black)Grace Bonilla, former deputy mayor for health and human services(black)Melanie Hartzog, and political consultant Elana Leopold(former de Blasio Whitey loser).

I looked up nyc's demographics in the 1950s and Whites were 90% with blacks and chinese(who knew?)filling out the rest. In 70 years,the city has lost 60% of its Whites. No wonder NYC votes the way it does. It has been conquered by minorities.
I posted before about "What's My Line" and what would the panelists think about the city they obviously loved in those days. Old "Naked City" episodes,showing streets full of WHITE PEOPLE. Now,it's like trying to find Elmo(Whitey).
And I still don't understand how it happened--in most of the big cities. Probably the most incredible development of my lifetime--along with White population decline(percentage-wise.)

(NY times)Representative Nancy Pelosi announced on Thursday that she will retire when her term concludes in early 2027, ending a remarkable career in which she rose to become one of the most powerful women in American history(GRA:And richest).
Ms. Pelosi, 85, was the nation’s first and only female House speaker, and she will have represented San Francisco in Congress for 39 years when she leaves office.
GRA:And profited(multi-millions)from "serving" in the House so much,that professional money managers wished THEY had her success in the stock market. It's easy to do when you have friends in high places helping you make the right trades,though.
Corruption,thy name is Congress.

The "President," always with his finger on the important issues, is talking today not about the Socialist problem, or about voter fraud (Did you hear that Maine voters REJECTED a proposal for voter ID?), or about Soros (a big enabler of Dam Manni's win), but about... cutting prices for a weight-loss drug! Which is to say he's promoting "Big Pharma" and getting people hooked on yet another drug. (We're a long way from "The President's Council On Physical Fitness.") He also had some kind of meeting with Big Business leaders. That's the only world he can relate to.
There was an item recently on ZH saying the top 5 companies on the stock market are ALL tech companies, and contain most of the market's value, and something like 65% of U.S. GDP! And they're ALL garbage-product, unnecessary far-Left entities (Google, Apple, Facebook, etc.) Even if we had a real President, he couldn't curtail these groups (as with anti-trust laws) without crashing the market. Now Palantir, the most potentially-dangerous of them all, is poised to be the next Huge Thing for investors. What hope for us?

I'm glad you mentioned "streets full of white people"- reminded me of something I meant to post a while ago. Recently watched SEANCE ON A WET AFTERNOON, British movie from 1964. EXTENSIVE location filming throughout London, including the subway (the "Tubes"). NOTHING but crowds of white working-class people, even though Britain had been importing darkies since the 1950s. Also no "youths" hanging out- just well-dressed, well-groomed, NORMAL adult people.
That's the pleasure of watching old movies and TV shows- seeing a normal world with normal people. And that's why the people in charge DON'T want the newer generations to see these things- and learn what life was like not so long ago.

Old movies have already been herded into the TCM "ghetto," and old TV shows onto ME-TV -type channels. The last time I got a pitch in the mail for cable TV, TCM wasn't even available on the first "tier," you had to pay extra for it. Unless these things are shown widely across local stations the way they used to be, few people will see them. Besides, they're unfashionably black and white- besides being too "white." Movies on the internet do get a fair number of views, but they'll never reach a mass audience like they used to.

To be real,why would minorities watch Whites in any old show or movie? They've got plenty of "ni**er television" to choose from these days.
