Editorial from TV Guide, exactly 60 years ago, bemoaning the influx of recent films into prime time, and wondering how many would actually be suitable for airing:
A House is Not a Home [prostitution story] and The Carpetbaggers [Harold Robbins flick which did end up on abc fairly quickly] and Kiss Me Stupid [Mild Billy Wilder sex comedy which actually was out of circulation for many years because of its supposed offensiveness] ...may not turn out to be tasteful programming for living rooms. Or will we all be so brainwashed that five years from now we'll accept ANYTHING on our screens?"
NAH, that could NEVER happen...

And the National Anthem! Who could have imagined THAT would become "offensive" to anyone?

Until cable tv came to pass, circa 1976 or 77,that's the way it was.
