More P.C. Punishment: HOFer Jack Morris Suspended for Using Asian Speech Pattern during Last Night’s Tigers/Angels Game
GRA: Former Tigers pitcher and Hall of Famer, Jack Morris, was suspended indefinitely from broadcasting Tigers games after, “using a fake Asian accent,” while Angels’ star Shohei Otani was at bat last night.
Play-by-play man Matt Shepard asked Morris, “How would you pitch to Otani?”
Morris responded lightheartedly, “Velly, velly carefully.”
This was first observed by me on the local wood news—you’d have thought Morris was a black thug ASSAULTING or KILLING an Asian—not doing a voice impression of an Asian.
The Tigers apologized, Morris apologized, and the Tigers announced Morris would go through bias training.
Reminds me of Randal Patrick MacMurphy in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, getting “training.”
I wonder if shock treatments are used.

ReplyDeleteWasn't that Colonel Clink on Hogan's Heroes that used to say "Velly, Velly Interesting". Or was it from Laugh In? Maybe Peter Sellers? My memory from those days is fading, I need some help here.

ReplyDeleteWho was the black baseball player who made the slant eye on camera? He got some criticism for it but I don't think he got suspended. If he didn't I guess that's black privilege.
Arte Johnson, playing the house Nazi, on Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In. Between Hogan's Heroes, Get Smart, and Laugh-In, it becomes a soup. I googled, just to be sure.
ReplyDelete"I wonder if shock treatments are used."
ReplyDeleteLock this Jack up in a cell with a bunch of negroes so he can learn of diversity.
I shouldn't be giving them any ideas.
Arte played the Nazi officer peering down at a situation map on a table: "Verrrry interesting." Sure.
