Correction: 11:39 p.m.
Last night [correction: that was Saturday night] at about 4 a.m. in the Rockaway Park section of the Rockaways in Queens, drunken Hispanics hanging out on the cement boardwalk assaulted at least one white bicyclist and vandalized red city Parks Department flags. The flags were to notify bathers that no lifeguard was on duty.
As two westbound white men riding bicycles approached, one of the Hispanics tried to slug him, but the white bicyclist dodged the blow. The white rider then took off, with the Hispanic thug in hot pursuit.
Unfortunately, for the white victim, he failed to gain speed in time, sand the thug caught up to him, and beat the hell out of him.
Some women working nearby witnessed this, but one was afraid to call the police, who are in any event unreliable. Finally, she shouted out to the perps, “I’m calling the police,” which caused them to disperse.
Where exactly (what Beach Street) did this happen?
ReplyDeleteFrom ~ Beach 85th St west is still Irish and stable, recently 'discovered' by Brooklyn hipsters as a 'destination'.
East of ~ Beach 35th St is Far Rockaway, which has had a 'troubled' history for as long as I can remember: housing projects, gangs, shootings, etc - worst school district in Queens.
(If you can 'firm-up' the crime/color lines, would be appreciated - haven't been down there in some time).
No cops around. Bad guys take advantage of a situation.
ReplyDeleteThe Irish are gone from the 80s-100s. This was the 110s.
