ReplyDeleteGRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man is dead after a shooting in Grand Rapids Sunday evening, police say.
At 7:10 p.m., officers with the Grand Rapids Police Department were called to Logan Street and Diamond Avenue SE for a report of a shooting. First responders found a man with at least one gunshot wound lying on the sidewalk in front of a home on Diamond Avenue, according to GRPD Chief Eric Winstrom.
(GRA:Used to be a mixed area 40 years ago. Today,90% coons.)
He said officers began first aid, but the man eventually died at the scene. The victim has not yet been identified. Police are waiting on the medical examiner to determine his identity.
It’s not clear what led up to the shooting, but Winstrom said there is indication that it could have happened during a fight.
“We don’t have the whole story of what happened. I have a feeling that there was probably an altercation involved, there was some indication earlier that there may have been yelling in this area, so that indicates a possible some sort of fight took place before the shooting, but we haven’t been able to confirm that,” Winstrom said.
He said there is no threat to the public(GRA:Unless you get into an argument with the perp)and no suspect has been found.
