Carl Dean, Dolly Parton's devoted husband of nearly 60 years who avoided the spotlight and inspired her timeless hit “Jolene,” died Monday. He was 82.
According to a statement provided to The Associated Press by Parton's publicist, Dean died in Nashville, Tennessee. He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony with immediate family attending.
“Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can't do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy," Parton wrote in a statement.
GRA:Nice that she stayed faithful to him all those years post 1970. Burt Reynolds,Kenny Rogers etc all crossed her path and she never wavered. /s

I think I would keep it from him. He would be more apt to tell than me. He knows I ain’t goin’ nowhere. No matter who I met or what kind of an affair I might ever have, ain’t nobody in this world could take Carl’s place. There ain’t no way in this world I’d ever lose this man."
GRA:No way could a woman like Dolly,who looked like she did and lived life with pizzazz,would put a chastity belt on for 50 years. And she admits as much,without admitting it. But maybe she had one of those "understandings" with Carl Dean,which I hope he agreed to willingly and not with Parton yelling,"I'm going to do what I want--so live with it."
But he never divorced her,which goes in both their favors,as far as showing respect and love--I GUESS.

ReplyDeleteOf course Dolly has also been accused of being a lesbian and that her husband was a cover for her true sexuality. The only source that I've ever seen cited is her longtime best friend and assistant who once said they would sleep together sometimes while traveling. She never said it was sexual in any way, it was just a convenient thing to do while on a trip somewhere.
No, I don't believe Dolly is gay, it's just the usual attempt to make every female celeb a lesbina in order to "spread the message" to other women, especially very young ones who are vulnerable.

ReplyDeleteWonder if she will start dating at her age. All those years of being faithful, assuming she's stayed faithful, will she be looking for a new squeeze? The body still looks good from what I've seen, though that's with clothes on and probably some support to fight the work that gravity does to a woman's body. Dating can be tough for women of a certain age because men die younger than women so there are always a lot more widows around than widowers, but she does have money and fame which would help a lot.
If she goes the Cher/Madonna route and procures herself a negro, I'll never listen to her music again.

ReplyDeleteAnybody else watching the Presidential address? Started out with an amusing moment when the Democrats became rambunctious, and Trump threatened them with the sergeant at arms. Trump was being his usual bombastic self but he's saying a lot of good things, along with some of the head scratchers. One thing he mentioned was his plan to charge well to do foreigners a buttload of money to get a green card, that was how he was going to balance the budget. Really? I'd like to see the math on that one. Now they're showing a little black kid who wants to be a cop but got cancer, so they gave him an honorary law enforcement position of some kind showing Trump is down with the negroes. Came off as a cheap sympathy ploy. Now he's doing something great by bashing the transgender mania and woke insanity that has infested our culture, good for him.
I caught it late. The words are fine but we need a lot more than words to save what's left of the country. Appeasing blacks does nothing,either,in that regard.
