(CNN)El Salvador has agreed to house violent US criminals and receive deportees of any nationality, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced Monday, in an unprecedented deal that has alarmed critics and rights groups.
Rubio unveiled the agreement after meeting with Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele, as part of a tour of several Central American countries intended to consolidate regional support for the Trump administration’s immigration policy.
“In an act of extraordinary friendship to our country … (El Salvador) has agreed to the most unprecedented and extraordinary migratory agreement anywhere in the world,” Rubio told reporters Monday.
The country will continue accepting Salvadoran deportees who illegally entered the US, he said. It will also “accept for deportation any illegal alien in the United States who is a criminal from any nationality, be they MS-13 or Tren de Aragua and house them in his jails,” he said – referring to two notorious transnational gangs with members from El Salvador and Venezuela.
In addition, Bukele “has offered to house in his jails dangerous American criminals in custody in our country, including those of US citizenship and legal residents,” Rubio said.
It is unclear whether the US government will take up the offer, however, with questions around the legality of such moves. Any effort by the Trump administration to deport incarcerated US nationals to another country would likely be faced with significant legal pushback.

Bukele confirmed the agreement with Rubio on X, saying in a post, “We are willing to take in only convicted criminals (including convicted US citizens) into our mega-prison (CECOT) in exchange for a fee.”
“The fee would be relatively low for the US but significant for us, making our entire prison system sustainable,” he added.

1 dead, 3 others injured in shooting at Allentown lounge; coroner rules death a homicide
Police say David Rivera, 26, of Allentown has been arrested.
Rivera is charged with homicide, attempted homicide, aggravated assault, firearms not to be carried without a license and reckless endangerment.
Allentown Police say that on , police responded to the BKK Lounge at 1500 Union Boulevard for a reported shooting.
When officers arrived, four victims with apparent gunshot wounds were treated on the scene by paramedics.
Police say all four victims were transported to a local hospital by Allentown EMS. However, one of the victims, a 32-year-old Lower Macungie man, died of his injuries on arrival to the hospital.
The deceased victim was named by the Lehigh County Coroner as Ivan Diaz Jr., 32, of Lower Macungie.
Police said Sunday, that the three people who were shot are expected to survive.
'It's tragic': Shooting at lounge in Allentown leaves one dead, three injured.
Police said the shooting happened after a fight between two groups of people inside the lounge. They state that the individuals involved in the fight were reported to be the shooters in this incident.
It continued outside in the parking lot, and security was trying to separate the groups when gunshots were fired, according to police.

ReplyDeleteMany years ago my boss asked if I would do a business trip to Nigeria. Young and stupid, I said yes. Details were being worked out but then one day he said forget it, there was a coup and the trip is canceled.

GRA:ZH posted the story with this info. The US government sent 32.1 million dollars to Politico and 3 million to the New York Times. According to the info,the money was funneled to these media outlets via "subscriptions."

POLITICO has a subscription called PoliticoPro, which costs around $10,000 a year.
@politico should be transparent about how many of these pro subscriptions are government-funded.
Given the ludicrous cost, I'm guessing its upwards of 90%.
