ReplyDelete(ZH)Former Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao and three other defendants were charged by federal prosecutors in an eight-count indictment unsealed on Jan. 17 alleging the group participated in a bribery and corruption scheme that sought to benefit a company with nearly $90 million in city contracts.
The recently recalled Thao, who was arraigned during a 10:30 a.m. court hearing in Oakland, pleaded not guilty to six charges and was released on a $50,000 bond.
Thao and Andre Jones, described in charging documents as her “longtime romantic partner,” and businessmen David Trung Duong and Andy Hung Duong, father and son, respectively, are charged with a litany of crimes.
“The public deserves honesty and transparency from City Hall,” first assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick D. Robbins said in a statement.
“When elected officials agree to a pay-to-play system to benefit themselves rather than work for the best interests of their constituents, that breaches the public trust.”
He said communities relying on leaders for critical government services are hurt by their misdeeds.
“The public needs to know it can trust those in charge of City Hall to work for the best interests of the people of Oakland,” he said during a press conference announcing the indictment.
“This public trust is broken when elected officials agree to a pay-to-play system to benefit themselves.”
According to the indictment filed by the grand jury on Jan. 9, in the weeks before Thao was elected mayor in November 2022, and after taking office, she offered influence and city contracts to the Duongs in exchange for campaign support and financial gain.

ReplyDelete(GRA)nbc noise now,at 1:10 p.m. today,had their legal expert going over any executive order that would attempt to overturn the birthright citizenship question.
"The Trump administration will seek to rewrite the 14th amendment by using the scenario which is already an accepted practice: 'If an ambassador from another country has a baby in this country,that child is deemed to NOT be an American citizen'--that is already standard operating procedure. The childbearing ambassador,not being an American citizen, cannot have the child be designated a U.S. citizen. Trump believes the same rule should apply to (invaders)who are not citizens. That's the crux of the Trump argument."
That obscure rule(about ambassadors)is an interesting angle to pursue,in applying it to invaders having kids here. In my humble opinion,that strategy is their best hope of re-interpreting what a natural born citizen should actually be.

FOUR ILLEGAL CHILEANS ARRESTED FOR BREAK-IN OF CINCINNATI BENGAL QB,JOE BURROW
ReplyDelete(abc noise)Four Chilean nationals(of course) were arrested in connection with the burglary that occurred at Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow's home in December, according to court records.
On Jan. 10, 2025, a special agent with the Ohio State Highway Patrol spotted suspicious luggage being carried into a vehicle outside of a hotel in Fairborn, Ohio, according to court records.
When the agent pulled the car over, Alexander Chavez, Bastian Morales, Jordan Sanchez and Sergio Cabello, allegedly showed the agent fake identification. The car smelled of marijuana and it was later confirmed that the four men were in the country illegally, court records filed in Clark County, Ohio, say.
When police searched the car, they say they found "two Husky automatic center punch pools wrapped in a cloth towel behind the glove box."
Police say these tools are used by South American theft groups to break glass and enter houses.
The affidavit says that in the vehicle police found an "old LSU shirt and Bengals hat believed to be stolen from the December 9, 2024 burglary in Hamilton County, Ohio."
On Dec. 9, Joe Burrow's home in Hamilton County, Ohio, was burglarized, according to police records.
The affidavit says the men were brought to the Clark County Sheriff's Office for further questioning. When a detective called one of the cell phone numbers that was placed at the scene via cellphone data, Morales' phone started ringing, according to court records.
GRA:They traveled a long distance to go to prison.

abc noise reported that,in response,22 states filed suit to stop the order.
An asian state A.G. was shown saying,"This is a fundamental right,"while another said,"See you in court."
This goes to the Supreme Court,no doubt.
