On sunday night at 9 p.m. ET (repeated at midnight and 4 a.m.) hln's how it really happened series has an episode on the 2006 murder of actress-director Adrienne Shelly. The nypd initially ruled her death a suicide, but it turned out to be an "undocumented worker" employed in the building.

Adrienne Shelly's killer, an illegal alien named Diego Pillco, was robbing the victim's apartment when she walked in on him. He proceeded to strangle Adrienne Shelly, then faked a suicide by hanging.

Pillco confessed to breaking into apartments in every building he "worked" in and stole what money he found.

The NYPD initially bought the suicide angle despite shoeprints on the toilet and side of the bathtub. The World's Greatest Detectives finally noticed and looked at the work crew of illegals in the building at the time.

Pillco, despite overwhelming evidence of first degree murder, was given a plea bargain for "Manslaughter in the First Degree" and a "25 year sentence." Robert Morgenthau was still the Manhattan DA at the time.

I checked the New York State Inmate Locator. Diego Pillco is classified as a "White/Hispanic," a term the system is now using frequently. Pillco comes up for parole in 2028. If not released then, he will be in 2031. Nothing about deportation when his sentence is up.

The HLN show is being regularly repeated. It is worth watching.
